Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh starrer "Ek Villain" has indeed started on a grand note at the worldwide box office. The action thriller has rocked domestic as well as overseas box office with huge response.
The film directed by Mohit Suri has raked in ₹16.72 crore on day one, making it the second highest opening day collection of 2014. The film failed to beat Salman Khan's
Jai Ho" opening day record of ₹17.55 crore with a slight margin.
But, "Ek Villain" fared better than "Jai Ho" keeping in mind the huge difference between the screen counts of both the films. "Jai Ho" was released in 4500 screens in India, which is said to be one of the widest releases, while "Ek Villain" was released in only 2539 screens in India.
