Salman Khan starrer "Ek Tha Tiger", which shattered many box office records, is still in news, and this time it's for popularity of the film among mobile phone users.
After becoming the second highest grosser film of all time at the domestic box office, the romantic action movie starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif has now become the longest standing movie to be featured in the most viewed list on mobile devices in India.
Kabir Khan directorial movie "Ek Tha Tiger" was released on Aug. 15 and broke all previous opening day records by collecting Rs ₹320 Million at the box office. The movie also became the fastest film to cross the ₹1 billion mark in just five days.
While film industry is speculating if "Ek Tha Tiger" could break the record of the highest grosser "3 Idiots", the movie has set another record.
According to a report by Global Video Insights (GVI), which was published by independent mobile video company Vuclip, "Ek Tha Tiger" was at the number one position in terms of searched video in the month of August and September, news agency IANS reported. It also grabbed the title of the most watched video clip in the months of June and August.
"For the fourth month in a row, Ek Tha Tiger has been featured among both the most watched video clips as well as the most searched video terms by more than 14 million users of Vuclip in India, making it the longest running top movie title on mobile phones in the country," IANS quoted Salman Hussain, vice president, business development, Vuclip as saying.
"We have never seen any movie being such a big hit for such a long time. With reports of possible Tamil and Telugu remakes of the movie, Ek Tha Tiger still seems to have a lot to offer to its fans, and I won't be surprised if it grabs the top slot yet again on mobile too," he added.
The movie has reportedly collected Rs 1.9 billion at the box office in its fifth week.
