Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer "Ek Tha Tiger" has managed to score good collections at domestic box office in the second week despite some new releases.
Kabir Khan's directorial movie collected Rs 306.2 million (Rs 30.62 crore) approximately in its second week, making the total collection to Rs 1.84 billion (Rs 184.83 crore).
"#EkThaTiger *India* Thu 1.97 cr. 2-week total: Rs 184.83 cr (Rs 1.84 billion) nett. All Time Blockbuster," Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Despite new releases like "Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi" featuring Farah Khan and Boman Irani in the lead roles, Salman Khan's "Ek Tha Tiger" dominated the BO in the second week too.
"Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi" remained dull at BO and collected approximately Rs 90.65 million (Rs 9.65 crore) in its first week.
"#EkThaTiger dominated the marketplace by grossing excellent figures in Week 2. Collected 30.62 cr nett in Week 2. Total: 184.83 cr nett," Adarsh tweeted.
"#EkThaTiger 184.83 cr, #ShirinFarhadKiTohNikalPadi 9.65 cr."
The romantic action thriller opened with great response and set new record at the box office with Rs 330 million on the release day. The movie was expected to cross the Rs 2 billion (Rs 2 crore) mark at the Indian box office in 16 days and break the record of Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots", but it failed to do so.
"Ek Tha Tiger", which got mixed reviews, opened to an overwhelming response at both domestic and overseas market, but its business dropped in the second week.
The movie witnessed a considerable fall from Rs 90.18 million to Rs 20.92 million on second Monday and continues to drop in the second week.
"#EkThaTiger breakup for Week 2:- Fri 4.55 cr, Sat 7.01 cr, Sun 9.18 cr, Mon 2.92 cr, Tue 2.60 cr, Wed 2.39 cr, Thu 1.97 cr," Adarsh tweeted.
However, the film requires only Rs 160 million to surpass the Rs 2 billion mark. It may be possible for the movie to surpass the mark in the third week since Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer "Joker", which was released on Friday, failed to make a good opening.
