At least eight people were killed in a shooting that took place in three separate houses in Mississippi's rural Lincoln County on Saturday night. The suspect has been taken into custody by the police.
The deceased include a sheriff's deputy. Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman Warren Strain was quoted by the Associated Press as saying that no charges have been filed against the suspected shooter and that it would be "premature" to discuss the motive behind the shooting.
It is not known whether the suspect knew the victims before allegedly shooting them dead.
