New York police arrested at least 16 people as protesters gathered late on 9 November at one of Donald Trumps hotels in Manhattan. Chanting slogans and holding placards, the several-hundred strong crowd were venting their disapproval at the reality show host and real estate developer being voted the 45th president of the United States. How drones are being used in the fight against poachers

Zimbabwe and Malawi have started using South African drones to combat poaching. As part of the Air Shepherd program, Drone Solutions is providing drones to national parks that use live infrared footage to track poachers and help guide ground teams. Elephants and rhinos are hunted for their ivory and horns and can have their tusks hacked off while they are still alive or are simply killed for them. Elephant populations fell at least 30% between 2007 and 2014, whilst around 1,000 rhinos are killed each year to supply demand for rhino horn. Oct 18, 2016

A large Chinese entrepreneurial investor is keen to get the jump on Virgin Galactic and launch trips to the edge of space using weather balloons from China. KuangChi Science has announced plans to invest ¥10m (yuan - $1.5m, £1.12m) into developing a futuristic theme park in Hangzhou province called Future Valley, which comes with a series of rides aiming to let people experience what it would feel like to be an astronaut in space.
