Coolpad has launched a new variant of its successful Note 3 smartphone — Note 3 Lite — with slightly-toned-down specifications and a compact screen. The China-based smartphone maker's latest handset borrows key features such as fingerprint scanner, 3GB RAM and impressive camera from the Note 3 smartphone to challenge other budget devices in the market.
Coolpad launched the Note 3 Lite with an attractive price tag of Rs 6,999 and will be available exclusively on Amazon India starting 28 January. Coolpad follows the flash sale method for its new handset and the first sale will begin at 2 pm on 28 January. Registrations are open on Amazon India.
Coolpad Note 3 Lite succeeds the 5.5-inch Note 3, which was launched in October last year. The Lite variant offers the same specifications as its elder sibling, except for a few changes. The new handset sports a 5-inch display with 1280x720 pixels resolution protected by scratch resistant glass and a 2,500mAh battery. Comparatively, the Note 3 features a 5.5-inch HD screen and a 3,000mAh battery. It measures 140.8x70.4x8.9 mm.
Coolpad Note 3 Lite also features a fingerprint scanner, which is just as responsive as the Note 3.
Coolpad tweaked the design of the Note 3 Lite by adding a gold frame around the display and a matching ring around the camera and fingerprint scanner in the white model. The black variant has a darker frame replacing the golden hues. The removable rear cover has a textured finish and the company's branding at the lower rear side along with the speakers remains unchanged. The power/lock button is placed on the right side and the volume controls are found on the left, just like its predecessor.
Coolpad Note 3 Lite is powered by a 1.3GHz 64-bit MediaTek MT6753 quad-core processor, ARM Mali T720 GPU and 3GB RAM. Like the original Note 3 smartphone, the Lite variant of the handset comes with 16GB onboard storage, expandable up to an additional 32GB via microSD card slot. The Note 3 Lite also has the same 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 5MP front snapper.
The handset runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Cool UI 6.0 and has dual SIM card slots with 4G LTE support. Coolpad also offers the standard connectivity options, including Proximity Sensor, Light Sensor, Magnetic Sensor and Accelerometer.
