The death hoax report of Eddie surfaced again shortly after the death of his brother Charlie Murphy. Eddie's death hoax report was initially published in 2015 but it is not clear why the article is doing the rounds of social media again.

"US actor and comedian Eddie Murphy, who starred in over 50 films, has been killed in a car crash in California. Murphy, 54, was a passenger in a Porsche sports car driven by a friend – who also died – when it crashed north of Los Angeles," the article read.
The report also quoted an authority from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department that said both the passengers in the car lost their lives.
However, the actor-comedian is alive. He also paid an emotional tribute to Charlie, who died of Cancer this month. "Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie. Charlie filled our family with love and laughter and there won't be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed," Eddie said in a statement to Variety.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time a celebrity has become a victim of the death hoax. Recently, Rowan Atkinson, popular as Mr Bean was killed by the fake reports. And interestingly, Atkinson's fake death report also claimed that the actor died in a car accident.
Earlier, Star Wars actor Mark Richard Hamill became a victim of death hoax. A parody Twitter account posted a fake news that went viral. The news was dismissed by the actor, who took to social media to talk about the death hoax report.
