The makers of Maasthi Gudi are leaving no stone unturned to make its release a talk of the town. The Duniya Vijay-starrer is set for a huge release in Karnataka on May 12.
Talking to International Business Times, India, Sundar P Gowdru, the producer of Maasthi Gudi, says, "In the first phase, we plan to release in India alone and it will see the light of the day in about 350-400 screens. The film will hit the screens in Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and other parts of India where the considerable Kannada-speaking population exist."
The estimated screen count in India comes close to 500. However, Maasthi Gudi is releasing in Karnataka when Baahubali 2, which has collected above Rs 75 crore, ruling the box office.
On asking whether they are taking a chance, the producer responds, "Why should we be worried to release a Kannada film in Karnataka? We are confident of our movie and hope that Kannadigas will support Maasthi Gudi. In fact, the film was supposed to release alongside SS Rajamouli's film, but delay in CGI work pushed the film's release."
The producer, although is charged up for the release, continues to miss Anil and Raghav, who drowned while performing an action sequence in Thippagondanahalli Reservoir, 35 km west of Bangalore, in November 2016.
"We have not completely moved on as it is a irreparable loss to me, personally. They were like my two hands," he claims.
Maasthi Gudi, based on a real-life incident, is written and directed by Nagashekhar. It is a semi-period film that has Sadhu Kokila's music, Satya Hegde's cinematography and Joni Harsha's editing. The film has Amulya and Kriti Kharbanda in female leads.
