Ducati is apparently working on the younger sibling of the Scrambler range of motorcycles and the new motorcycle will have a 400cc engine.
A report from the tmcblog.com indicates the new Scrambler will possess a design similar to its elder sibling and engine will be the 400cc L- twin Testatreta, which is also a downsized unit of 800cc Scrambler. The smaller Ducati Scrambler will get its chassis from the current one and will be lighter.
The motorcyle is expected to be unveiled at the 73rd Worldwide Motorcycle Exhibition 2015 (EICMA) in Italy in November. Ducati also confirmed a world premiere at EICMA on 16 November, which is likely to be the 400cc Scrambler. Additionally, Ducati will showcase an array of new motorcycles at the EICMA, topped with the recently unveiled 160hp, Monster 1200 R that is the most powerful Ducati naked motorcycle till date.
The 800cc Scrambler that is sold in India comes via CKD kit, and is priced at Rs 6.7 lakh. The motorcycle is powered by L-twin, 803cc air cooled engine that develops 73.7bhp at 8,250rpm and 68Nm at 5,750rpm mated to six-speed transmission. Ducati India sells Scrambler in Classic, Icon and Full Throttle barring Urban Enduro from the international range.
The estimated price for 400cc Scrambler in India is expected in the range of Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. At that price point, the new Scrambler will be a compelling case and will be a threat to entry level Harley-Davidson range though both motorcycles are in different segment.
