DSK Benelli is reportedly set to expand its India portfolio with the sub-500 cc motorcycle Tornado 302R. If the emerging reports are anything to go by, the new Benelli Tornado 302R, the fully-faired sibling of TNT 300 is gearing up for its launch in the country by the first week of June.
A report of Motoroids claims that Benelli Tornado 302R will be launched in the country on June 2 and is open for bookings at the dealerships against a down-payment of Rs. 50,000. Benelli Tornado 302R has been linked with several launch dates in India, but has been delayed due to various reasons. It was recently reported that the motorcycle is now ready to hit the stores in India as it has clearance from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
Unveiled at the 2015 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, the new Benelli Tornado 302R had made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016. The motorcycle measures 2,175mm in length, 746mm in width, 1,146mm in height, and weighs 180kg. Powering Benelli Tornado 302R is 300 cc liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine that can churn out 36bhp at 12,000rpm and 27Nm at 9,000 rpm. This is the same engine that does duty in TNT 300.
Benelli Tornado 302R employs 41mm upside down forks at front and mono suspension at the rear. It gets twin 260mm floating discs with a four-piston caliper brake at the front and a single 240mm disc with a single piston caliper brake for the rear.
To be pitted against Yamaha YZF-R3, KTM RC390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 in India, Benelli Tornado 302R is expected to come with ABS ((Anti-lock Braking System) as standard in India. In terms of pricing, Tornado 302R is expected to be pegged at Rs. 3.5 lakh.
