Here's some bad news for fans of Zee TV's "Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani". The buzz is that the show that started on grand note with magnificent sets and talented star cast is likely to go off air.
Since the beginning, "Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani" featuring popular TV actress Drashti Dhami and Siddhant Karnick has been trying to entertain its audience with interesting twists and turns, but failed to improve the TRP ratings.
According to an Asian Age report, the constant decrease in the ratings has forced the makers to consider the idea of shutting it down. The report further stated that the show is likely to go off air in March.
"It's a sorry story for the show. Investment is huge and the production house has tried every trick in the book to improve the ratings but nothing has worked so far in the show's favour. Actors are putting in their best and are a disappointed lot," a source told the daily.
"Turns out that their larger than life characters haven't been able to strike a chord with the audience. Taking into consideration all these factors, the channel has no other option but to take the extreme step. Discussions are still on, if things don't improve the show will most likely go off air in March," the source added.
Siddhant, who plays the lead role of Ranaji, is disappointed with the buzz of the show going off air, but hopes that the news is untrue.
"Yes, I have heard the buzz and hope it's not true. We are putting in a lot of hard work and feel very dejected when we hear something like this. The show means the world to me. The character of Ranaji has given me a rare opportunity to explore many shades. The whole set up out here is wonderful, be it the co-stars or the crew," Asian Age quoted Siddhant as saying.
Set in the 1940's, the story of "Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani" is about Gayatri (played by Drashti), a commoner who gets married to prince Rana Indravadhan Singh Deo (played by Siddhant). The plot revolve around how the two, who belong to different social statuses, fall in love with each other.
