"Dragon Ball Super," the popular anime TV show from Toei Animation, aired episode 49 titled "A Message from the Future — Goku Black Invades!" on June 26, exclusively on the Japanese Fuji TV. Following the end of the Champa saga in episode 41, the publisher released several episodes that acted as fillers until the dawn of the new saga, the Future Trunks, which marked its origin with episode 47.
In episode 48, we saw how Future Trunks narrowly escaped from the clutches of Black Goku, by getting into the time machine and coming back to the present. But as Future Trunks wakes up, he looks at Goku, but it reminds him of Black Goku and he starts firing quick salvos against him. The real Goku is left to defend himself against this unwanted onslaught.
In episode 49, we see Bulma taking charge and slapping Future Trunks. This slap wakes him from the visions of Black Goku. Future Trunks is happy that Goku is alive as he had thought Goku died when Cell blew him up, said Attack of the Fanboy in its review.
Future Trunks is also happy at seeing Bulma, who had died in his adventures to the future.
We see Bulma explaining to the Pilaf gang about Future Trunks being the same as Kid Trunks and why they are not brothers. We also see Future Trunks getting to interact with Kid Trunks, and Beerus and Whis being curious about the time machine that humans have built.
The scene cuts back to future where Black Goku does not yet know about Future Trunks and so he starts to destroy things, but he stoops upon a special ring that could be the key to keep his chase for Future Trunks going.
The scene then cuts back to the present, where we see Whis getting worried about Future Trunks travelling through time and the possible butterfly effect following such encounters. Butterfly effect is a concept where if one thing is changed in the past, it can have repercussions in the Future. He sees the time machine as a threat and wants to destroy it, if it can stop Future Trunks from jumping timelines.
Future Trunks is seen pleading against the destruction of the time machine, he is on his knees and promises Whis delicious food. Bulma comes to Future Trunks' rescue and gets both Beerus and Whis some sausages that are instantly liked by both of them.
Bulma knows that the fuel in the time machine was enough for a one-way trip and finds a note that was left by Future Bulma on the possible fuel locations.
This episode also revealed something about the villainous Majin Buu. Following the death of Cell by Future Trunks, Babidi, the wizard and Dabura, the demon king appear, but thanks to Future Trunks' training with Supreme Kai, he is able to neutralise Babidi and Dabura before they are able to free Majin Buu.
Turning to the present, Future Trunks finally reveals that the enemy that was chasing him looked like Goku, with Future Bulma nicknaming it "Black Goku."
The note that Future Bulma wrote is dissected further and it was revealed the she wanted to fix a timeline that would help Vegeta and Goku go to the future and kill Black Goku.
Further, the episode showcases Future Trunks' ability to reach Super Saiyan 2, something he had never done before, as he gets into a small quarrel with Goku. But Goku powers up to Super Saiyan 3, something Future Trunks was unaware of. Both fight until Goku overpowers Future Trunks.
The episode comes to a conclusion with Black Goku finally managing to create a portal that would let it enter the present timeline.
Meanwhile, Toei Animation shared the preview of episode 50, titled "Goku vs. Black! The Road Towards the Sealed Future."
The next episode will see Black Goku entering the present timeline and challenging Goku. It also reveals that both look similar. Everyone wonders how Black Goku managed to enter the present timeline. Goku is curious to test how strong Black Goku is and we see Goku on the defensive as Black Goku attacks, the preview video stops at Black Goku drawing a Kamehameha-like blast to attack Goku.
"Dragon Ball Super's" episode 50 is expected to be released on July 3, 2016.
