As television shows go, there are spoilers and then there are huge slip ups by the cast and the crew. The latter took place at a "Downton Abbey" set. To be precise, an innocent fan found a prop from the set and since then, the news of what's to come in season 6 has travelled far and wide.
According to The Telegraph, a crew member left a wedding order of service at a church in Oxfordshire. That piece of paper holds details of whose wedding will take place in season 6. We can confirm that it does not mention Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) and Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan).
Earlier, Jim Carter said that the plot in season 6 contains more than one wedding. And perhaps the wedding order of service gives away a major plot line that Julian Fellows and his team has strived to hide.
According to Mirror, we could expect Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) to tie the knot this finale. The website reported that the young mother will wed Berty Pelham. Fans will remember Berty from season 5 finale when he danced with Lady Edith.
We reported earlier that Berty, the Brancaster Castle's agent and Lady Edith will have a happy coincidence in London. Furthermore, reports suggest that Lady Mary's younger sister will struggle to manage a long distance relationship with Berty.
Nevertheless, if the details of the wedding are indeed true, fans of Lady Edith, who is generally unlucky in love, have something to celebrate.
When asked if Lady Edith will have her happy ending in season 6 of "Downton Abbey," show creator Julian Fellows told Vulture: "Edith was such a leitmotif of misery. I was in New York not long ago, in Barnes and Noble, and this woman was following me around and I could sort of feel her presence. Finally, I turned to her and said, 'Can I help?' and she looked at me, and her lip quivered for a moment, and she said, 'Please let Edith be happy!'"
"Downton Abbey" season 6 episode 3 airs on Sunday, 4 October at 9pm on ITV.
