If there's any truth at the heart of "Downton Abbey," it is the lack of love in the Crawley sisters' lives. Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery), Edith (Laura Carmichael) and Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) have experienced momentary bliss and companionship from their beloveds, only to lose them later. It remains to be seen if the show's creator Julian Fellowes will lift this curse off the Crawleys' lives in Season 6 Episode 8.
The latest instalment of the period drama will take off from where it ended. Lady Mary will resign herself to the estate and her son. For the mercurial Lady Mary, a life that's simple and bereft of external threats will seem attractive and convenient. However, her decision to remain single might be contested by Henry Talbot (Matthew Goode).
In the UK promo for Season 6 finale, Henry is seen driving up to the estate in the hope that he can change her mind. When he does arrive at Downton, he is met with cold-hearted cruelty from the woman he loves. In the video clip for Episode 8, Lady Mary tells Henry, "You pushing here, into my home uninvited, in order to call me a grubby little gold digger? You've got a nerve."
Although Henry looks confused by her accusations, we predict that he may have little success trying to make Lady Mary understand him.
Season 6 Episode 8's synopsis released via TV Guide reads:
"Edith's and Mary's romances become complicated; Molesley and Spratt set out on new career paths; Thomas has difficulties; Mrs. Patmore's bed and breakfast attracts unwanted attention; and Isobel puts her foot down."
