Actress Rashami Desai, who came to limelight with Colors' hit show "Uttaran", has walked out of upcoming Hindi TV serial "Door Ke Dhol" and Saumya Tandon has been roped in to play her role in it.
Set in Kanpur, "Door Ke Dhol" is said to be based on the 90's popular sitcom "Shrimaan Shrimati". Rashami Desai was roped in to the female lead in its modern version, while Nikhil Ratnaparkhi was to play her husband initially. The makers replaced Nikhil with "Lapataganj" fame Rohitashv Gaur.
But Rashami Desai had reportedly requested the makers to change him as he looked too old as her husband. So they replaced him with "FIR" fame actor Sandeep Anand. However, the actress decided to opt out of the project, when Rohitashv Gaur was brought back on board by the makers.
"Nikhil Ratnaparkhi, the original choice for the role, was replaced by Rohitashv Gaur. But the actress felt that he looked too old to play her husband on the show. Finally, Sandeep Anand was roped in for the part. However, the production house called Rohitashv back, which prompted Rashami to pull out of the project," The Times of India quoted a source as saying.
Saumya Tandon, who has earlier hosted "Dance India Dance" and also featured with Kareena Kapoor Khan in "Jab We Met", will now step into Rashami's shoes. "With Rashami and Sandeep out of the show, the makers have now roped in Saumya Tandon. She and Rohitashv will play newly-weds on the show," reported TOI.
Produced by Binaifer Kohli, "Door Ke Dhol" revolves around the story of two families. In the new version of "Shrimaan Shrimati", Saumya Tandon and Shilpa Shinde will reprise the roles of Reema Lagoo and Archana Puran Singh in the original, while Rohitashv Gaur and Asif Sheikh appear as their husbands respectively.
