US Republican presidential candidate Donald invited a legal immigrant on to the stage, during a rally in Bloomington, Illinois, on 13 March (Sunday), in an effort to set the record straight about his immigration policies. The man came up from the audience wearing a t-shirt that read: Legal Immigrant for Trump.
I came to this country when I was five years old and my dad went through hell to get us citizenship, and we did it by the book, the man, later identified as Alex Stypik, told the cheering crowd.
Im here because Im agitated that the media does not separate legal immigration from illegal. People spill out their guts to come here legally, and its just really a shame that they give you a bad name, he told Trump. You do support immigration.
Trump replied: Totally support it and I support Hispanics... great guy.
Trump also took aim at fellow Republican candidate John Kasich, as he looks to win in Kasichs home state of Ohio when it goes to vote on 15 March.
Hes approving TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership). Hes totally in favour of it. Its a disaster. Its going to kill our country, its going to kill Ohio, its going to knock out the car industry in Ohio. Its going to hurt whatever you have left in Illinois, because you guys are losing too fast. Youre losing too fast, he said.
