India cricket team has been one of the best in the ongoing Champions Trophy and has set up a date with Bangladesh in the semifinals of the competition. The two neighbouring countries will face off at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday.
The rivalry between the two nations cannot be compared to an India vs Pakistan clash or for that matter even an India-Australia clash. However, Bangladeshis are still minnows of world cricket but their cricket fans have been disrespectful towards India when it comes to pre or post India-Bangladesh match.
The latest instance is a photoshopped image which has gone viral on the social media, where the tri-colour flag of the Indian team has been wrapped around a dog, and a tiger is wrapped with the Bangladesh flag.
Had this been a one-off incident, it could have been ignored but that is not the case with the fans from across the border coming up with ugly and disrespectful ideas.
They have been disrespecting the Indian players for a long time by posting some ridiculous pictures, which also included a photoshopped image of Taskin Ahmed carrying MS Dhoni's head ahead of the India vs Bangladesh Asia Cup final in 2016, which the Men in Blue won.
The Bangladesh fans took the social media rivalry between the cricket lovers of the two nations to a new level by crossing the line.
Another such incident was in 2015 when a photoshopped image was posted on the social media with pacer Mustafizur Rahman having a blade in his hand, and India players like Dhoni, Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja's head being half-shaved.
But even Bangladesh players seem to be encouraging such stuff. Mushfiqur Rahim, after India had lost to West Indies in the World T20 semifinals last year, posted a tweet expressing happiness over India's exit. Such things will only encourage Bangladesh cricket fans to come up with more disrespectful ideas.
