Puneeth Rajkumar's Dodmane Huduga has got an earth-shattering opening at the box office. The Kannada movie, which was released in over 250 screens in Karnataka, made a record-breaking collection on its first day at the box office.
Dodmane Huduga had generated a lot of curiosity in the minds of the audience as it marks the third union of Puneeth Rajkumar and director Suri, after Jackie and Anna Bond. As a result, the advance booking met with a great response, which helped the movie to register a fantastic collection on the opening day.
Although the makers are yet to formally reveal the numbers, according to early estimates, the film has made between Rs 4.5 and Rs 5.5 crore. It has surpassed the figures of recently-released biggies like Kiccha Sudeep-starrer Kotigobba 2 (above Rs 4 crore) and Mungaru Male 2 (Rs 5 crore).
It has failed to beat the record of Yash's Masterpiece, which had earned over Rs 6 crore on the first day at the Karnataka box office.
Dodmane Huduga has been released outside Karnataka as well, in places like Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. But it has failed to see the light of the day in Tamil Nadu due to the Cauvery water-sharing row.
Meanwhile, Dodmane Huduga has opened to positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience. Hence, trade experts are expecting the movie to do fantastic business at the collection centres.
Dodmane Huduga is a commercial entertainer, which stars Radhika Pandit, Ambareesh, Sumalatha and Bharath Vishnuvardhan in key roles. Its good story backed by regular commercial ingredients has given it a fillip at the box office.
