The recent buzz has it that Benedict Cumberbatch's movie "Doctor Strange" will have a host of new faces. Morgan Freeman may be playing one of the pivotal roles in the film. The role, which he is likely to play is that of Ancient One. Bill Nighy and Ken Watanabe are also being considered for the role. The Ancient One is a mentor to Doctor Strange and is a Sorcerer Supreme.
Enstarz however has reported that these are mere speculations and if the role of Ancient One is included in the movie, it is not known how long it will be, as "Doctor Strange" will not show the origin of Cumberbatch's character.
Ancient One has Asian roots and is born in Tibet, according to IGN reports. He will pass on his wisdom to Dr. Stephen Strange and will teach him the magic. He will also team up with the doctor in his mystical journey.
Freeman has previously worked in a superheroes movie. He was seen in a role alongside Christopher Nolan in "The Dark Night" series. This has further lead to speculation that he may be cast in "Doctor Strange." The actor's rep is yet to comment on the rumours.
Meanwhile, Cumberbatch is extremely excited about the role.
"Excited, really excited, you know," he said at the British Independent Film Awards. "There's a lot of work to be done and I'm just at the beginning of it all so I'm not going to talk too much about it. It's a thrilling gig and I can't wait. Very excited," reports Mirror.
The film is set for Nov 2016 release and will follow Dr. Strange's story, who turns to the world of magic after meeting with an accident.
"Stephen Strange's story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity. In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character," said Marvel Studious president about choosing Cumberbatch for the role.
