DMK chief and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai for "optimisation of nutrition and hydration."
The 92-year-old leader has been undergoing treatment for back pain at his residence. He will be undergoing some tests at the hospital.
"Doctors have admitted him for a few tests. He will be back home in a few days," a DMK source was quoted by NDTV as saying.
A press release by the hospital said that a team of doctors were monitoring Karunanidhi's health and that his condition is stable. It added that "he will be in hospital for a few days."
"He is fine. Doctors are treating him and he will leave hospital in two days," DMK treasurer MK Stalin was quoted as saying by ANI.
The DMK had released a statement in October this year saying: "The DMK leader is unwell due to a drug-induced allergy. Doctors have advised him rest. Visitors should avoid visiting him and cooperate."
Tami Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has also been in Apollo Hospital in Chennai for over two months now after she complained of fever and dehydration. She uses speakers to talk, but doctors have said that she is fit to get discharged any time she wants.
She is recovering from a lung infection.
