The trailer of director Harish Shankar's DJ aka Duvvada Jagannadham, starring Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde, shows that the story of the movie has some shades of Mahesh Babu's Pokiri and Jr NTR's Adhurs.
DJ aka Duvvada Jagannadham is touted to be a commercial entertainer and it is one of the most awaited Telugu movies of 2017. Allu Arjun has opted for a complete makeover in the movie. Ever since his first look hit the internet, film goers have been eagerly waiting to know the story of the film. But the makers are tightlipped and kept the details under the wraps. Apparently, its trailer has led to several speculations with regard to the storyline of the movie.
The trailer of DJ aka Duvvada Jagannadham has obliviously given some hints, based on which several versions of the story are doing the rounds on the internet. A couple of them appear to be close to the storyline of previously successful Telugu movies.
The first version is that the story is about a police officer who disguises himself as a Brahmin cook to end criminal activities. Though its screenplay is said to be different, its plotline appears to be similar to Mahesh Babu's Pokiri that revolved around the story of a police officer who goes undercover to stop criminal activities of mafia gangs in Hyderabad.
Another version states that DJ aka Duvvada Jagannadham deals with the story of twins and Allu Arjun will be seen playing a Brahmin cook and an officer. Its screenplay may be different and have some interesting twists and turns, but its story is going to be similar to that of Junior NTR's 2010 action drama Adhurs.
Adhurs is the story of male twins, who are separated at their birth. One turns police officer while the other leads his life as a priest. The cop is abducted by a gangster, who forces his biological father, an Indian Army Major, to reveal a secret. When he escapes, the gangster hires the priest and makes him impersonate to extract the secret.
Coming to DJ, director Harish Shankar penned the story and screenplay for the movie, which is slated to hit the screens on June 23. The two versions of the story mentioned above are just speculations and we have to wait till its release to know whether the film deals with a fresh story or is it just a rehash of old blockbuster Telugu movies.
