While the news of "Diya Aur Baati Hum" going off air must have disappointed the show's loyal viewers, the makers are gearing up for Season 2 of the popular daily soap. Unfortunately, the new season will not have the show's lead actors Deepika Singh (Sandhya) and Anas Rashid (Sooraj).
There were reports that the makers were keen on casting Bollywood actors Sharman Joshi or Sonu Sood as the new male lead in the second instalment of the show. However, according to the Times of India report, neither Sharman nor Sonu will be a part of Season 2. The script requires an actor who is around 35 years old and named Uma Shankar and since none of these Bollywood actors fit into the role, the hunt for the actor who will be able to justify the role is still on.
However, actors like Neelu Waghela (Bhabho), Kanika Maheshwari (Meenakshi) and Karan Godwani (Vikram) will continue to be a part of "Diya Aur Baati Hum 2."
Meanwhile, "Diya Aur Baati Hum" will air its last episode on Sept. 11 and will end on a happy note. "Diya Aur Baati Hum will wrap up on a good note, with peace and justice prevailing after the high-voltage child trafficking drama. Though the team has not locked the climax track, we hear that the child trafficking track will go on for the whole month of August, wherein there will be many highs and lows in the Rathi family," a source told Tellychakkar.com.
The show with its unique concept and powerful performances by the cast, was one of the top shows on Indian television since its inception. However, over the last few months, it has experienced drastic fall in ratings, which forced the makers to pull the plug.
