Ever since Star Plus' popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum went off air, fans of the show have been eagerly waiting for the new season. And now, the latest buzz is that the show will not air anytime soon and is reportedly put on hold.
According to ABP News' Saas Bahu Aur Saazish report, there is a major rift between the producers of the show and the channel over time slot. The report said that the producers believed that Diya Aur Baati Hum had been the channel's top show for the longest time and hence they deserved a prime time slot for its second instalment. Due to this difference, the channel has now decided to not telecast it for couple of months.
Diya Aur Baati Hum 2 will not see the first instalment's lead pair Deepika Singh (Sandhya) and Anas Rashid (Suraj). However, actors like Neelu Waghela (Bhabho), Kanika Maheshwari (Meenakshi) and Karan Godwani (Vikram) will continue to be a part of Diya Aur Baati Hum 2.
TV actor Avinesh Rekhi, who rose to fame with his negative role in popular show Bharat Ka Veer Putra-Maharana Pratap, has been brought on as the new male lead.
Kabeer Kumar and debutant Mayank Arora will portray the character of Sooraj and Sandhya's sons. Niti Taylor of Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan fame will be seen as Sooraj and Sandhya's daughter Khanak in the show.
Diya Aur Baati Hum, with its unique concept and powerful performances by the cast, was one of the top shows on Indian television since its inception. However, over the last few months, it had experienced drastic fall in ratings, which forced the makers to pull the plug. The show went off air in September 2016.
