Vijay began his film career as an assistant to Priyadarshan. In 2007, he debuted as a director with "Kireedam", the remake of a Malayalam film with the same name. Since then, he has done seven films including "Saivam" which is yet to hit the screens. The director has worked with some of the top stars of Tamil cinema including Ajith, Vijay, Vikram and Arya.
Amala Paul was introduced by director Lal Jose in the 2009 Malayalam film "Neelathamara". She became popular in the Tamil industry through the critically-acclaimed film "Mynaa." Post the success of "Mynaa", Amala starred in several Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. She has worked with some of the top actors in the south cinema including Vijay ("Thalaivaa"), Vikram ("Deivathirumagal"), Ram Charan ("Naayak"), Allu Arjun ("Iddarammayilatho"), Arya ("Vettai"), Fahadh Faasil ("Oru Indian Pranayakadha") and Mohanlal ("Run Baby Run").
The pretty actress is awaiting the release of her films "Velai Illa Pattathari" (Dhanush), "Mili" (Nivin Pauly) and "Lailaa O Lailaa" (Mohanlal).
Post her marriage, Amala is likely to cut down on her film projects. Last month, the actress told mediapersons that she might not do commercial films, but might take up performance-oriented roles. "Earlier, my career was my priority," Amala was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle. "After Vijay entered my life, my priorities have changed. Now, my full concentration is on taking care of him. I may not be part of full-fledged commercial films, but I may consider taking up any performance-oriented roles that come my way," she said.
Vijay and Amala's wedding will take place in Chennai on 12 June. Several south film stars are likely to attend the special occasion.
