If the latest reports are to be believed, Atlee of "Raja Rani" fame is likely to direct Ilayathalapathy Vijay for a new film.
There was a buzz doing the rounds that Atlee will be directing Vijay soon. However, there was no official confirmation regarding this. Latest reports suggest that the actor-director duo is set to team up for a film that will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu who had funded Vijay's "Thuppakki."
Entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai has confirmed the news on this Twitter page.
Leading producer #KalaipuliThanu is going to do #IlayathalapathyVijay's next film (after Chimbudevan) which will be directed by @Atlee_dir," Pillai tweeted.
The film's music is expected to be composed by G. V. Prakash. The composer had also tweeted that his 50th film will be a big project and it is likely to be Vijay-Atlee's film. "Gv50 update soon ! Gonna be big !," Prakash had tweeted.
Meanwhile, Vijay is currently busy with his upcoming action entertainer "Kaththi", directed by Murugadoss, which has been going on well. It is expected to be wrapped up soon and is gearing up for Diwali release.
After completing his portions for "Kaththi", Vijay is all set to commence the shooting for his 58th film. The yet-to-be-titled film will be directed by Chimbudevan and it will be one of the costliest projects made with a budget of ₹80 to ₹90 crore.
The film also has Sridevi, Sudeep of "Naan Ee" fame, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles.
The shooting of Chimbudevan's film, referred as "Vijay 58", is expected to commence in September/October in Kerala. The untitled big-budget entertainer will be released next year.
Vijay is likely to start his 59th film only after completing his current assignments and it will be the first time that Ilayathalapathy teaming up with Atlee.
The director, who worked as an assistant director, made his directorial debut with last year's release "Raja Rani". The film received critical acclaim and also turned out to be a commercially successful project.
There will be huge expectations for Vijay-Atlee film when it goes on floors.
