Giants of Italian football, Juventus are yet to pick their first win in the Champions League, as they drew against Sevilla in their first match of the competition. But they will be keen to collect three points when they face Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb at Stadion Maksimir on Tuesday.
Juventus are always one of the elite teams in the competition, and are one of the favourites for the Champions League title. They currently lie in second place with Lyon, who defeated Dinamo, in top spot. They are expected to cruise into the knockout stages despite the group being tricky.
The Italian club have been mighty impressive in the Serie A, losing just one match so far, and remain at the top of the table. They lost to Inter Milan, but have followed up with wins over Cagliari and Palermo.
Manager Massimiliano Allegri wants his team to play some quality football and earn another victory, and he further believes that he has a team to match against the best, but warned his team of taking things lightly.
"In Serie A, we've picked up 15 points from our opening six outings; some of those were deserved, others less so. What I can't stress enough is the fact that victories aren't given out for free. We mustn't assume that we can just turn up and score three or four goals per game. The important thing for us at the moment is to get our feet back on the ground and fight to earn every win," Juventus official website quoted Allegri as saying.
"We believe that we have the quality to match the continent's best sides but that doesn't mean we should take things for granted. The very best teams push to the very end of the campaign and prevail by working hard, remaining humble and fighting for each other."
Juventus might have lost a key player in the form of Paul Pogba over the summer to Manchester United, but they have strengthened by signing Gonzalo Higuain, one of the lethal strikers in world football. The Argentina forward will be keen to keen to open his Juventus account in Champions League.
The Croatian club will be mindful of the fact that their defenders have to come with a solid game to stop Higuain and Juventus from scoring goals on Tuesday. Dinamo Zagreb, a dominant team in Croatia, have been in great form in their domestic competition, winning eight of their ten matches, and they need to find a way to replicate their form in the Champions League, which is a different matter altogether.
In the opening match against French side, Lyon, they were outplayed, and lost the match 0-3. There is a serious need for Dinamo to take their game to the next level to even manage a draw, which will be huge for the Croatian side.
