Shah Rukh Khan's star power has worked big time in Malaysia as his latest movie "Dilwale" has made a fantastic business. It has also surpassed the collection of Salman Khan "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" in this part of the world that does not have a good fan base for Hindi films.
"Dilwale" has made a stunning Rs 26.68 lakh from 10 screens in Malaysia and beat the record of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which could only mint Rs 12 lakh from two screens. It has to be seen whether the Shah Rukh Khan starrer continues the momentum and surpasses the lifetime collection of Salman Khan's film, which ended its business at Rs 42.67 lakh.
The audience turnout was good for "Diwale" and the traders feel that Shah Rukh Khan has a better fan following in Malaysia than other Bollywood stars.
However, SRK's latest movie could not beat his own "Happy New Year" opening weekend record of Rs 27.66 lakh from 13 screens. The total collection made by the Farah Khan directorial stands at Rs 72.51 lakh and surpassing this collection for "Dilwale" is not an easy task given the mixed reviews the movie received from the audience.
Coming to the Malaysian box office this weekend, Tamil film "Thanga Magan" performed well among the Indian films. It raked in Rs 50.06 lakh from 22 screens. The other Hindi release, "Bajirao Mastani", raked in Rs 1.34 lakh from three screens.
Meanwhile, "Dilwale" has done well in overseas centres as well as in India. The four-day collection of the film now stands at Rs 75.18 crore and hopefully, it will reach the elite Rs 100-crore club in its first week itself.
"Dilwale" stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles. The film has been directed by Rohit Shetty and features Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in key roles.
