Popular Punjabi singers Diljit Dosanjh and Kamal Grewal may face some legal issues as they have been accused of encouraging dog fights in their new song videos.
Diljit's latest song video titled Pitbull shows the singer handling some pit bulls, and some lyrics apparently promote dog fights. One such line in the song is "Rakhe fight nu vi Pit bull chaar ni (Have kept four pit bulls for fighting)."
Similarly, Kamal's song video Sarkari Ban has a scene where two dogs are seen fighting. The song also has a line saying "Pit bull da chalaya yaaran ne hai daur ni" (Friends have begun the trend of pit bull fighting."
Some animal activists have created a Facebook page "Exposing Animal Fights in India," where Diljit and Kamal's song videos have also been uploaded, along with many other dogfight videos.
It has been reported that arranging dog fights is much common in some areas of Punjab and Haryana. Dogs like pit bull, bulldog, and other big dog breeds are reportedly trained in a way to be so ferocious that they would kill other dogs in fights.
Some complaints against the two singers have already been forwarded to the Animal Welfare Board of India, alleging that the song videos promote animal cruelty, according to India Today. The report also said that Kamal had responded to one of the FB posts saying, "How can a song, which is itself named Sarkari Ban be banned by the authorities". Diljit, however, has not reacted to the controversy yet. Check the two song videos here:
