Bollywood's biggest stars came together on Monday to launch the legendary superstar Dilip Kumar's autobiography titled "The Substance And The Shadow".
The event took place at Grand Hyatt in Santa Cruz, Mumbai, on Monday evening and was attended by Hindi cinema's iconic stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Vyjayanthimala and Zeenat Aman among others.
The book, which showcases Kumar's journey till now starting from his childhood, is authored by veteran editor Uday Tara Nayar.
Veteran actress Saira Banu greeted each and every celebrity at the event with a warm hug.
"This evening is special and we hope everyone likes his biography. I am feeling great today. It is a dream come true to me. Everyone will know about his childhood, growing up years and you will hear it from him. For the first time he has spoken about it," Banu told reporters, according to Press Trust of India.
Director-producer Karan Johar hosted the event, which saw several biggies from the film industry. Aamir Khan, Big B, Dharmendra and few other celebs shared their experiences about the "Devdas" actor.
Aamir narrated a poem, which was written by Prasoon Joshi for the occasion. "It is a big day and I am big fan of Yusuf (Dilip Kumar) sahab. It is a memorable day. He is such an inspirational figure to me right through my career," he said at the event.
"What a memorable evening !!!! had the honour of hosting the launch of Dilip Kumars autobiography amongst legends of Hindi cinema," Johar tweeted.
"I was honoured to attend Dilip Saheb's autobiography launch. So much grace, dignity and talent," Madhuri Dixit Nene said.
Bollywood celebs including Big B, Aamir, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar, Zeenat Aman, Danny Denzongpa, Farida Jalal, Vyjayanthimala, Subhash Ghai, Ayan Mukerji, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani, Madhuri Dixit with husband Sriram Nene, Priyanka Chopra, Shaan, Lalit Pandit, Riteish Deshmukh, Adesh Srivastava, Anandji, Mandira Bedi, Prem Chopra, Sharman Joshi, Anu Malik, Bappi Lahiri, Javed Ali, Rajat Sharma, Tina Munim, Anil Ambani, Priya Dutt, Pt Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ayaan Ali Khan, Director duo Abbas-Mustan, Johny Lever, Deepti Naval, Aditya Pancholi, Sanjay Khan with wife Zarine Khan, Kapil Sharma and Ali Asgar among others were present at the event.
Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, close friend of Kumar, was supposed to sing at the event, but she couldn't make it due to health issues.
