After Welcome to Central Jail, Malayalam actor Dileep is awaiting the release of Georgettan's Pooram. The makers of the comedy entertainer, helmed by K Biju, have announced the release date of the Dileep-starrer.
The Dileep-starrer, which stars Anuraga Karikkin Vellam-actress Rajisha Vijayan, is said to hit the theatres on January 26 as a Republic Day release in Malayalam. As the name suggests, Georgettan's Pooram is being narrated in the backdrop of Thrissur district in Kerala that is known for its temple festival. Dileep plays as George Vadakkan in the movie as the son of Renji Panicker's (Mathews Vadakkan) son.
Scripted by YV Rajesh, the upcoming comedy entertainer also stars Vinay Forrt, Sharafudheen and Renji Panicker in significant roles. It is being co-produced by Arun Gosh, Bijoy Chandran and Shivanee Suraj under the banner of Chand V Creations in association with Shivani Entertainment. The movie, said to be made on a whopping budget of Rs 10 crore, is believed to be the second expensive film of Dileep after King Lear.
Will Christmas movies be released in January?
Georgettan's Pooram release date has been declared when Mollywood industry is facing issues due to the tiff between the producers and distributors associations in Kerala. Due to the tension, Malayalam movies, which were scheduled to hit the screens as Christmas releases in December have been postponed.
"Suspense over Kerala strikes continue no decision today also both sides stick to their stand on terms [sic]," film distributor Mukesh Ratilal Mehta tweeted.
Christmas releases like Mohanlal's Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Dulquer Salmaan's Jomonte Suviseshangal, Prithviraj Sukumaran's Ezra and Jayasurya's Fukri were expected to get released in December. Rumours are rife that these films will be released on January 5. However, no official confirmations are available on the release date as of now.
