Its three-day earnings are higher than Deepika Padukone-Amitabh Bachchan starrer "Piku" that collected ₹25.22 crore and Akshay Kumar's "Baby" that grossed ₹36.07 crore.
The box office collections put the Zoya Akhtar movie at third spot, after Gabbar Is back" and "Tanu Weds Manu Returns", in the list of top Bollywood grossers in 2015 in terms of opening weekend box office figures in India.
"Dil Dhadakne Do", which stars Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah in pivotal roles, was released in 2,300 screens across India.
Trade analysts are now waiting to see if the movie can carry its weekend success to to weekdays as well.
If the movie manages to do well in the weekdays, the producers can be assured of a box office hit.
