Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra starrer "Dil Dhadakne Do" has opened with double digits, but the film failed to beat the opening day box office collection record of "Gabbar Is Back".
"Dil Dhadakne Do", directed by Zoya Akhtar, has recorded the second highest opening day domestic box office collection of 2015. The first day box office income of the film is ₹10.53 crore.
"#DilDhadakneDo picked up at plexes towards evening shows. Fri ₹ 10.53 cr. India biz. Sat and Sun biz needs to grow to post a good total," trade analyst Taran Adarsh added.
The film has collected the expected amount on day one, but failed to break the record of Akshay Kumar's "Gabbar Ia Back". Akshay's film holds the record of highest first day box office income with over ₹13 crore.
Nevertheless, Zoya's directorial film has shattered the opening day records of Akshay's "Baby", Kangana Ranaut's "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" and Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal's "Roy".
"Dil Dhadakne Do" has done well in metro cities and multiplexes and majority of the collection comes from multiplexes. But single screens witnessed a low response compared to multiplexes.
The family drama features Ranveer, Priyanka, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah and Rahul Bose in pivotal roles.
