Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) bossed over Mumbai City FC in their first leg ISL 2016 semi final game at Kolkata on Saturday. The Sourav Ganguly co-owned side won the game 3-2 -- the same score both sides went into the half time with.
For those who tuned in to the match, you could definitely bet that two of the best teams of ISL 2016 were clashing swords, visible from the way the first half transpired. Goals of the highest order remained the highlight of the evening and the already sizzling Rabindra Sarobar stadium got further boost to enjoy a special Saturday.
If it had to be the last game of the season in Kolkata -- the mecca of Indian football, it had to be special.
Iain Hume inspired the home team on getting the win as most of the contribution for ATK came from him and had Mumbai City FC goalie Amrinder Singh not been impressive, the margin of goals could have been more.
For the away side, Diego Forlan remained the tragic hero as he not only assisted both the goals for his team but he also made frustration get the better of him, resulting in him getting a red card, and in the process, miss the second and the most crucial leg of the ISL 2016 semi final at the Mumbai Football Arena next week.
Here are all the moments from the match...
3' ATK take lead through Didika
In an unexpected turn of events early on, ATK midfield star Borja's cross inside the box met the header of Lalrindika Ralte, and the ball travelled all over into the goal. Yes, Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Amrinder Singh should have done more to stop the ball but even the Indian was startled as was Lalrindika and the rest of his teammates.

10' Mumbai equalise through Leo Costa
Uruguay hotshot Diego Forlan's free-kick inside the box met the header of Sunil Chhetri, whose header again in turn fell into the path of Costa and the Brazilian schemer's right-footed shot entered the blasted the net of the goal.

19' Mumbai take the lead through Gerson
Diego Forlan remained the assist again as his precise free-kick found a hungry Gerson Vieira inside the box and as expected, he beat every marker to slot home powerfully to give his side the lead in the match for the first time.

39' ATK level scores via Iain Hume
The Canadian hotshot striker had to score in the match and he did that with a world class effort. Pass and rebound - pass and rebound, that's how the build-up to the goal took place, before Hume shooting it home powerfully. Didika's cross inside the box got a touch from Amrinder and it fell in the path of Sameehg Doutie. The South African midfielder, on his part, laid the loose ball in the path of Hume and the 33-year-old completely bossed it.

45' ATK get the lead again. It's Hume again!
Mumbai City FC defender Sena Ralte may not have intended it but he was the reason an onrushing and vicious Helder Postiga was stopped in his tracks. Reason enough for the referee to point it to the spot. Hume stepped up to take the penalty and it was a cool as a cucumber goal, with Amrinder sent the wrong way.

74' Diego Forlan gets the red
One moment from ISL 2016 we definitely do not want to remember took place in this match as the Uruguayan football legend, who was already booked in the first half, was sent marching orders by the referee for a very needless challenge on ATK's Jewel Raja. Per his standards, the challenge was definitely something he could have undone with, but well that's football. Even the best of composure can turn into frustration the other moment!
