Yesteryear actress Sridevi is making her comeback in South films with biggie "Puli" starring Vijay. It is now reported that she was approached to play a key role in SS Rajamouli's multilingual blockbuster "Baahubali" too!
Yes. A rumour is doing the rounds after "Puli" producer Shibu Thameens said that Sridevi refused to star in a recent blockbuster to act in the Vijay starrer.
Even though he did not explicitly say "Baahubali", people are assuming he was referring to SS Rajamouli's movie, as it is the only recent blockbuster.
It is speculated that Sridevi was approached for the role played by Ramya Krishnan in "Baahubali". But she turned down the offer, as she liked the script of Vijay's "Puli". She reportedly felt that it would be the ideal movie for her return to South films.
It has to be noted that the role she rejected has been highly appreciated by the audience and critics. The performance of Ramya Krishnan has been praised to heavens.
Sridevi's immediate reaction after listening to "Puli" director Chimbudevan's narration was, "What a story!!! I will definitely do this project".
The yesteryear actress plays the queen of a kingdom. She will also be seen in the role of Kiccha Sudeep and Hansika Motwani's mother.
The actress, who worked with all the leading stars of her times, was last seen in Kollywood in "Naan Adimai Illai" starring Rajinikanth, way back in 1986. Her last South movie was "SP Parasuram" starring Chiranjeevi in 1994.
Coming back to "Puli", the movie is a fantasy-adventure made with a budget of about Rs.100 crore. Like "Baahubali", the Vijay film too is a visually-rich flick. The movie will hit screens next month.
