Of late, many Bollywood actresses including Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra have been turning singers. Now, another actress-cum-singer, Shruti Haasan, apparently took a dig at her contemporaries.
There has been a notion that songs sung by actresses sound good due to the availability of auto-tune. Shruti too hinted on the same thing when asked about actors turning singers. Her statement even appears to be a jibe at their acting skills.
"I wish there was auto-tune for acting. That would make everyone win the best acting award immediately. The fact is you can correct the 'sur' but you cannot photoshop acting," The Asian Age quoted Shruti as saying. Although Shruti did not mention anyone's name, her comment appears to be a shot at her contemporaries who resorted to singing.
Having worked with Rajkummar Rao in Behen Hogi Teri, Shruti said that proper training in any field is very important.
"My father (Kamaal Haasan) would always insist on training. I trained in Hindustani and then I went to music school. I know that training is very different. In our own film, Raj is a trained actor from FTII. His training is different from my approach to acting. You cannot compete. I can't say I can do better than him. You do what you do, I do what I do," she added.
Shruti further said that being occupied with movies, she now misses making songs, and added that she will soon come back as a singer. Behen Hogi Teri is an upcoming romantic comedy that will show Rajkummar romancing Shruti. The film will hit the screens on June 9.
