Ever since Callie Torres announced her decision to move to New York City with Penny Blake, fans have been wondering if Sara Ramirez was gearing up to say goodbye to ABC's medical drama "Grey's Anatomy." On Thursday, Ramirez further fuelled speculation of her departure from the show when she tweeted about wrapping up Callie's storyline.
"That's a wrap for Doctor #CallieTorres #Season13 #GreysAnatomy #ThankYou all for an enriching & unforgettable #Rollercoaster ride! â¤ï¸" Ramirez's tweet read.
It is not immediately known if Ramirez was just celebrating the wrap up of Season 12 of the show, or if she was actually bidding adieu to the medical drama for good. But one thing to be noted is that the actress' contract expires in June and there hasn't been any indication that it will be renewed.
If Ramierz is indeed leaving the show then it makes sense for her character to move to the East Coast with her girlfriend and possibly take her daughter along with them. A good number of fans also believe that Callie could die before the season ends, thanks to a TVLine report that noted that there will be a death before Season 12 wraps up.
Meanwhile, next week's episode will see Callie and Arizona in court fighting for Sofia's custody. This week's episode saw both Callie and Arizona asking their colleagues to testify on their behalf. While Justin Chambers' Alex decided to stay away from all the drama, Meredith and Owen both agreed to testify for Callie, while Webber and Bailey said they'll support Arizona.
The May 5 episode is titled "Mama Tried" and its synopsis (via Wikia) reads: "Callie and Arizona are at odds over Sofia's future, and Stephanie questions the status of her relationship with Kyle. Meanwhile, Alex and April work on a pregnant teen who is readmitted to Grey Sloan Memorial."
"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays on ABC.
