Deepika Padukone has a reasonably free calendar this year and yet she's losing out on offers, it seems.
According to a Spotboye report, "Kahaani 2" is now happening with Vidya Balan, who had hinted at signing the film last year.
"Sujoy and I are doing a film which will roll early next year, I'm hoping it will be Kahaani 2 but Sujoy has other interesting scripts too," Pinkvilla quoted her as saying.
Set to go on floors in April, the film has had to go through tonnes of problems earlier. Director of the first one, "Kahaani", Sujoy Ghosh, was asked to leave the sequel after his bitter fallout with producer Jayantilal Gada. However, the differences have been ironed out and everything seems to be on track right now.
"Sujoy is free to take the franchise ahead. He has been trying to put that project together since quite sometime. Let him put his cast together, I will be glad to produce the film," Gada told the web portal.
In other news, Deepika's upcoming films have made considerable amount of noise. Although she has repeatedly denied having signed any for the year, there are enough hints suggesting her being in Vin Diesel's next "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage". Saina Nehwal biopic and Aanand L Rai's next with Shah Rukh Khan are some of the other possible projects she may be roped in for.
"Just to set the record straight, I have signed no new films as of 2016," she told The Indian Express.
