Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani's latest outing "PK" has broken all records at the box office to become the highest grossing film in India.
However, of late, rumour has been doing the rounds that Khan, who is on cloud nine with the success of the film, was not the first choice for the religious satire.
According to Bollywood Life, a source close to the crew of "PK" has spilled some beans regarding the lead cast of the film and mentioned that the director had previously considered Ranbir Kapoor to play the lead and even approached him for the same.
Apparently, when Mr Perfectionist got to know about it, he used his strong connections with producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and together compelled Hirani to cast him instead of Kapoor. Not just that, Khan who is known to make things work according to him, made the makers believe that the role required an experienced actor.
Reportedly, the "3 Idiots" director finally got convinced after some look tests and decided to cast Khan. But as he had already approached the "Barfi" star for the role, he offered him a surprise cameo in the film.
"PK" also has Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Saurabh Shukla, Boman Irani and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, Hirani has already roped in Kapoor for his next ambitious project, which is a biopic based on Sanjay Dutt. The "Jagga Jasoos" actor will slip into the shoes of Dutt in the film.
