Ram Charan and Arvind Swamy-starrer Dhruva has come out with flying colours at the worldwide box office in its first week. The Telugu movie has made good collections in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and in the US.
As per Andhra Box Office, Dhruva has minted Rs 42.5 crore in the 7-day first week at the Andhra and Telangana box office. The distributors' share stands at Rs 29.51 crore. Karnataka remains the second biggest centre for the Telugu flick as the movie earned Rs 9.5 crore in the neighbouring state with a distributors' share of Rs 5.56 crore.
From rest of India, Dhruva has raked in Rs 2.7 crore with a distributors' share of Rs 1 crore. Among the overseas centres, the film has done well only in the US where it has earned Rs 7.15 crore with a distributors' share of Rs 3.93 crore. In the remaining part of the world, the flick earned Rs 2.55 crore (distributors' share: Rs 1.20 crore).
The worldwide collection of Dhruva stands at Rs 64.4 crore with a distributors' share of Rs 41.2 crore. It is said to be a good collection considering that the film industry has been affected by the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes in India.
The trade experts expect Dhruva to do decent business in its second weekend. As no big film has been released, Ram Charan's flick is expected to pull the family audience to theatres on Saturday and Sunday in big numbers.
Moreover, the new releases have opened to below-average reviews, which will turn out to be an advantage for Dhruva, which is written and directed by Surender Reddy.
Dhruva is a remake of Tamil movie Thani Oruvan, which was written and directed by Mohan Raja. Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swamy had played the leads in the original with Nayanthara playing the female lead.
