Ram Charan Teja's Dhruva has turned out to be his biggest hit at the US box office. The Telugu movie has become the first movie of Cherry to reach $1-million mark in North America.
Early trade estimates suggest that Dhruva has reached $1-million mark on Monday, 12 December. The Telugu flick was released in 202 screens in the US and opened to good response.
Dhruva had raked in $223,314 from premieres on Thursday. The positive reviews ensured that the movie improved its business in the next few days. It raked in $244,538 on Friday, $342,652 on Saturday and $146,138 to take its total tally to $957,337 by the end of its first weekend. Now, it has added over $50,000 on Monday, thereby becoming the first Ram Charan movie to achieve the feat.
The movie has already beaten Ram Charan Teja's previous bests like Govindudu Andarivadele ($666,827) and Bruce Lee: the Fighter ($646,000) at the US box office.
Meanwhile, Dhruva has done well at the domestic box office as well. In the opening weekend, the Telugu movie has earned close to Rs 40 crore in three days. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, it has minted Rs 28.5 crore. In Karnataka, it has come out with flying colours as it grossed Rs 7.5 crore.
The Ram Charan-starrer has approximately earned Rs 47.49 crore at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. The movie is estimated to have earned a share of Rs 30 crore for its distributors, who have shelled out Rs 57.50 crore on its theatrical rights. The film has recovered 52.17 percent of the investment to the distributors in three days.
Dhruva has Arvind Swamy in the key role and Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead. Surender Reddy-directorial is a remake of Tamil movie Thani Oruvan.
