Parallels are being drawn between "Dishoom" and "Dhoom." And John Abraham has an interesting reply to those claims.
"Except the name, it's a different template. It's a different format, it's very different and I really love this space," he told IANS. The names of the characters John has played in both films are the same – Kabir – but in the latest one he plays a cop, and in the other one he was a thief.
John also said the experience of working with Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez in the film was fantastic, adding that they had a lot of fun and that the film has truckloads of action sequences. "It's very special, it comes from the heart. We're not forcing the line," he said.
The actor also spoke of how "Dishoom" is franchise material and can be stretched to as many as eight films. "Kabir and Junaid (the characters) will find new problems, new issues and move to different places. It's going to be fun. It's a great franchiable film," he said.
Jacqueline, who plays an outlaw and a character that is far from "classy" or "elegeant," also told Catch News the action-adventure film can be made into a franchise. "I think 'Dishoom' has the most amazing combination to continue as a franchise because it has got the action, chase, the whole kind of fun element wherein different characters come together. So I think it would make an amazing franchise," she said.
Directed by Rohit Dhawan, "Dishoom" arrives in theatres on July 29 and has Saqib Saleem in a key role.
