Yash Raj production "Dhoom 3" starring Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles has become the fastest film to cross the ₹100 crore mark in India, beating "Chennai Express" record.
"Dhoom 3" raked in over ₹30 crore on third day to take it overall total to more than ₹100 crore. The film has surpassed the ₹100 crore mark at domestic box office in just three days.
"Chennai Express" collected ₹100 crore in four days, which includes the paid previews earnings, while, "Dhoom 3" touched the century club in its opening weekend.
"#Dhoom3 - India consolidated total: Fri ₹ 36.22 cr, Sat ₹ 33.36 cr. Total: ₹ 69.58 cr nett. Inclusive of Tamil & Telugu versions," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film performed best in North circuits especially in Punjab, despite the cold and fog. In South circuits the collections were in the range of "Chennai Express" and "Krrish 3"
According to boxofficeindia, the opening day and third day earnings of "Dhoom 3" are the highest single days collection recorded, while the Saturday earning is the sixth highest of all.
The film is now heading to create another record by surpassing the ₹200 crore mark at worldwide box office. The opening weekend overseas data is yet not revealed but Friday and Saturday trends suggest that the two day collection is huge.
From US-Canada box office only "Dhoom 3" raked in ₹20 crore in opening weekend.
"All records shattered! #Dhoom3 takes the BIGGEST start ever [Hindi films] in USA-Canada. Collects $ 3.3 million [₹ 20.49 cr] in opng wknd," Adarsh tweeted.
"Dhoom 3" had a terrific opening weekend, but it remains to be seen whether it will pass the Monday's test, where almost all films has seen a fall in their collections.
