Aamir Khan has regained the top spot at the box office chart with "Dhoom 3". The action thriller has become the highest grosser Indian film ever, beating "Krrish 3" total earnings of ₹244 crore by a big margin.
"Dhoom 3" also became the first film to surpass the ₹250 crore mark in India.
"Dhoom 3- All Languages 2nd Wednesday Hindi ₹ 10.40 Cr Tamil & Telugu ₹ 0.38 Cr Total ₹ 10.78 Cr Grand Total:- ₹ 252.70 Cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted adding, "Yes, #Dhoom3 has crossed ₹ 250 cr nett in India."
"#Dhoom3 [Week 2]: Hindi ₹ 61.81 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 1.91 cr. Total: Hindi ₹ 240.78 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 11.92 cr. Grand total: ₹ 252.70 cr."
The earnings on the 11th day picked up due to New Year's Day holiday in several parts of the country. However, the film will witness a drop on second Thursday as it's a normal working day.
Two new films are releasing this week - "Mr. Joe B Carvalho" and "Sholay 3D" - but they won't affect the box office collection of "Dhoom 3" much.
"Dhoom 3" will continue to dominate the screens in both India and overseas markets in its third week also. With this film, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra have also joined the ₹200 crore club with other actors.
