Santhanam's "Dhilluku Dhuddu" has got a flying start at the Tamil Nadu box office. The movie has registered a fantastic opening day on Thursday, July 7, and has reportedly become the fourth biggest opener after Vijay's "Theri," Suriya-starrer "24" and Sivakarthikeyan's "Rajini Murugan."
"#DhillukuDhuddu is among the Top 5 openers of the year in TN. Best Ever for @iamsanthanam as a hero @ThenandalFilms [sic]," journalist Kaushik LM tweeted.
The trade experts feel that the occupancy in theatres for "Dhilluku Dhuddu" was high due to Eid holiday. The early estimation coming from the industry suggests "Dhilluku Dhuddu" will have earned somewhere between Rs. 3 to 4 crore on its first day. It has to be noted that the makers have not revealed the official collection yet and it is just a rough estimation.
Sri Thenandal Films, who is distributing the movie, is happy with the film's opening day performance and tweeted, "Producers, distributors and theater owners are extremely happy with public response to #DhillukuDhuddu! Thanks to @iamsanthanam & team!"
However, the performance of "Dhilluku Dhuddu" in the next few days holds the key for its success at the box office. The Tamil movie has opened to average to positive reviews. While the first half is not up to the mark, the second half makes up for the dreariness of first half with hilarious content.
"Dhilluku Dhuddu" is a comedy film laced with horror elements. Rambala has written and directed the flick, which has Shanaya in the female lead role.
