The first look of Dhanush's Bollywood debut film "Raanjhana" co-starring Sonam Kapoor was unveiled on the colourful festival season of Holi.
The film, being directed by Anand L Rai of "Tanu Weds Manu" fame, is an intense love story set in the small town of Varanasi. The movie marks the debut of Tamil film actor Dhanush who achieved national fame through his smashing hit song "Why this Kolaveri Di," which became a youth anthem.
Following the film's first look poster release, Dhanush tweeted, "The official first look of raanjhana. A beautiful journey I took against all odds.happy holi."
Actress Sonam Kapoor tweeted saying, "Guys this was just a teaser picture and holi greeting from team raanjhana! The official look and theatrical will arrive soon! Watch this space!"
The film was slated to release on 28 June. Latest buzz is that the "Raanjhana" team has decided to push the release date of the movie to a later date, to make way for Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan starrer "Ghanchakkar".
"Now with 'Ghanchakkar' releasing on June 28th, the makers of 'Raanjhanaa' have decided to push release date of their film further," a source from the industry told a leading daily. "Ghanchakkar" is a comic thriller in which Emraan and Vidya play a newly-wed couple.
Besides "Raanjhana", Dhanush is also busy with another anticipated Tamil movie "Mariyaan", directed by Bharat Bala. The first look of the film will be unveiled on Friday (29 March). Oscar winner AR Rahman will set the score for the film. "Mariyaan" is likely to get released before the first half of this year.
