Hollywood filmmaker and actor Al Pacino of The Godfather series fame has reportedly been approached to play an important role in Dhanush's forthcoming Tamil movie, which will be directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
The Times of India reports that the makers of the Tamil movie have initiated the talks and it is still on. "We are yet to know if he will be finalised — guess a formal announcement will be made soon. Also, a major portion of the film will be shot in the US, so they can get the Hollywood star to shoot there itself," a source told the leading daily.
The major part of the yet-to-be titled film will reportedly be shot in the US. The team does not require bulk dates of Al Pacino and hence, there is a fair chance of the Hollywood actor signing the Tamil flick.
However, Al Pacino was not the first choice to act in the movie and the makers had Morgan Freeman in mind for the powerful role. But as their plans failed, they decided to approach Al Pacino.
It is not the first time where the makers of a Tamil movie have approached a Hollywood star. Earlier, Arnold Schwarzenegger was offered to play the role of a villain in Shankar's upcoming movie 2.0 aka Enthiran 2.
In fact, Schwarzenegger was in Chennai to attend the audio launch function of Shankar's previous film I. Unfortunately, he did not take up the film for reasons best known to him.
Meanwhile, the pre-production work is going on in full pace. The makers are expected to open up on the cast and crew in the days to come. It is now reported that Sri Thenandal Films, which is ready to bankroll Vijay's 61st movie, has come forward to produce the flick.
