Dhadak first day box office collection: Janhvi-Ishaan film off to good start; set to be 8th biggest openers of 2018

Dhadak starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar has opened to good response and is making a good collection at the domestic box office on the first day. It is set to be one of the top 10 biggest openers of 2018.

Dhadak is a remake of Marathi blockbuster movie Sairat and marks the acting debut of late actress Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor. Karan Johar has bankrolled the film. These two aspects have also generated a lot of expectations for the movie.

The distributors have released Dhadak in nearly 2,500 screens in the domestic market in a bid to cash in on the hype. The movie was successful in registering good advance booking for its opening day. After seeing these factors, trade experts from Bollywood had predicted that it would start with a bang.

Dhadak is off to a decent start with its average occupancy of 25 percent in the morning shows on Friday. Sumit Kadel, an observer of Bollywood, tweeted, "#Dhadak opens with 25% occupancy across India. Decent opening for debutants film."

The Jhanvi Kapoor and Ishan Khattar starrer has a decent advance booking for its afternoon and evening shows and it is expected to make a better collection in these shows. As per early trends, Dhadak is likely to collect Rs 8.50 crore to Rs 10 crore net at the Indian box office on the first day of its release in theatres.

If it collects this amount, Dhadak will shatter the opening records of Raazi and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. The Shashank Khaitan-directed romance drama will land in the eight rank in the list of top 10 biggest Bollywood openers of 2018.
