Makers of "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" have tried to maintain the suspense of the film, but looks like someone played spoilsport.
A video featuring the climax and suspense of Dibakar Banerjee's film was leaked online three days before the release of the movie. The makers were in shock when they were informed about the leaked video that reveals the climax and villain.
The leaked video appears to have been filmed by a unit member present at the scene when the director shot the climax.
"Director Dibakar Bannerjee was in Yash Raj studios giving interviews to digital media, when a journalist asked him about this. The colour drained from Dibakar's face immediately. He then asked for a member of his team to be called in," a source told Mid-Day.
Dibakar immediately went to meet Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films (YRF), producer of the film, to discuss about the leaked video. YRF immediately it removed from YouTube citing copyright issue.
The reason behind the leak is not known, but an onlooker told a leading online portal that it could possibly be a publicity stunt.
"It seemed someone from his core group spewed venom. There's also a possibility that this is a publicity gimmick but going by Dibakar's reaction it's highly unlikely," an onlooker told The Times of India.
"Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" is a crime thriller featuring Sushant Singh Rajput in the title role. The film, which will hit screens on Good Friday, has received U/A certificate.
"A screening was held for Examining Committee, which recommended the grant for U/A with excisions. No request for constitution of Revising Committee has been made by the producers as on date," Shravan Kumar, CEO of the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), said.
