The sequel to Descendants of the Sun is one of the most awaited Korean dramas of 2017, but there has not been any official update on when it would air or whether filming for the project has commenced or not.
The first instalment of Descendants of the Sun had Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo in lead roles and it was believed they would reprise their roles as Yoo Si Jin and Kang Mo Yeon, respectively. But it seems like they are busy with other projects, giving them no time to commit to Descendants of the Sun Season 2. According to some reports, this has resulted in KBS' decision to scrap the project altogether.
But some others believe that the sequel will commence production sometime in the beginning of 2017 when Song Joong Ki gets some free time from filming his upcoming movie Battleship Island.
In other news, Song Joong Ki's label Blossom Entertainment recently issued a statement regarding the controversy surrounding his fan meeting, where a company in Hong Kong claimed that it wasn't paid for organising the event.
"This is unrelated to our company, but when we looked into the news from Hong Kong, it seemed as if there was a misunderstanding..," the label said in the statement. "The Asia Tour fan meetings were participated by many companies from Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong. The Hong Kong promotion company changed their company name and miscommunications occurred. Fan meeting payments have already been paid off, and we were told that the lawsuit would be dropped sometime today."
