The success of Korean military drama Descendants of the Sun has resulted in increased focus on its lead stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's personal lives, both from national as well as foreign media. Sadly, this has also generated rumours about them being romantically involved, and according to some media outlets, the duo is planning a secret wedding as a baby is on the way for the couple.
On September 30, their respective agencies addressed these rumours, saying there wasn't any truth to these claims. "It's definitely not true," All Kpop quoted representatives from the entertainment labels as saying. "It's ridiculous. We're just laughing about it."
Apparently, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are just friends and there's nothing more to their friendship.
In other news, it is being reported that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will not be a part of Season 2 of Descendants of the Sun. Song Joong Ki is busy with his new movie Battleship Island and Song Hye Kyo is said to be trying for a career in Hollywood.
According to an iTechPost report, Season 2 of the Descendants of the Sun has been confirmed for 2017 and KBS' head of drama Jung Sung Ho revealed that they were still going through negotiations with the cast and production team.
"We want to repay viewers with the next 'Descendants of the Sun.' We are grateful to viewers, overseas fans, staff, and actors," Jung Sung Ho said. "The drama was more than a domestic syndrome; it established a third wave of Hallyu. KBS will strive to produce a second "Descendants of the Sun" to meet expectations and repay viewers. We plan to launch a 2017 'Descendants of the Sun' project for broadcast in 2017 through negotiations with the cast and production team."
